We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and only authoritative Word of God.
We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death on the cross through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of God the Father, in His ongoing intercession for the saints, and in His personal return in power and glory to establish the new heavens and new earth.
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful people, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling and empowering, the Jesus-follower is enabled to mature and live a godly life.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; those that are saved, to the resurrection of life and to eternal unity with God, and those that are lost, to eternal separation from God.
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We have 3 sessions throughout the year, each session is about 10-11 weeks long. Residents may apply to stay for multiple sessions.
-
Residents should come prepared to spend time in the Bible, in prayer, and to participate in scripture-based discussions. Residents will work hard on service sites for ~20 hours a week for the benefit of others. Some of this work is behind-the-scenes service, and thus requires humility. Residents will be able to explore and adventure around the island. We will explore some places as a group, and give access to cars (with specific parameters and rules) to explore our local area on your own.
***we have an extensive list of communal-living guidelines*** Reach out if you want/need to see a copy of our guidelines. We inform residents of these pre-session and during orientation. These guidelines are absolutely necessary for our living situation and liability purposes, and are akin to any other Christian school, discipleship ministry, or camp.
Some examples to expect: no dating other residents or locals, no alcohol/nicotine/drugs, gender-separated living zones, cleaning up after yourself (cars, kitchen, bedrooms) is non-negotiable

Residents will live in the community at Alohalani House, a fully-furnished, two-story home located on about 5 acres on the north shore of Kaua’i. The home has a pool, fruit trees, and is close to mountains and beaches. Residents are provided 3 meals per day, and participate in cooking dinners with and for one another.
Food and housing will also be provided during your week in California with the Genesis Collective.

Laundry supplies, beds and bedding, coffee, surfboards/boogie boards, guitar/ukulele/keyboard

Thanks to the generosity of the Makanalani Group and Genesis Collective, we have been able to keep our program costs very affordable. Makanalani has donated a magnificent 5 acre property for the use of the residents, completely rent free. This includes a beautiful 4,600 sq ft house and a pool, as well as a large barn in which the residents learn how to make value-add farm products. Leaders and pastors from the Genesis Collective give teachings and curriculum to residents at no charge, volunteering their time and even covering their own travel costs to Kaua’i.
-
Residents are responsible for their flights to Kaua’i to begin the session, then to California for the Week in California, and home from there. Specific dates for travel will be sent in the welcome packet we send to all new residents.
-
The residency provides vehicles for exploring the island. Residents are allowed to use the vehicles in their off-time, and will be charged a mileage fee for personal miles accrued.
-
Yes, many residents continue their education during residency. We recommend a part-time course load. You will be busy, but will have 2 full off days and evenings if you need to do schoolwork.
-
You can! While we do have a rich leadership curriculum and bring in equipped teachers, we do not have college accreditation nor do we require tests, homework or grades like a regular school program.
However, we’ve often worked directly with students and their schools or corresponding departments to receive credit for their time here. This is often done through an internship or applied learning requirements at their schools. Our staff can act as oversight for these class/internship credits, and we can administer assessments and homework based on our curriculum if need be.
-
Yes! Residents have free time Sunday afternoon through Monday night and several evenings throughout the week.
-

Each weekday will begin with two hours of engaging teachings led by a different instructor each week. These sessions will blend scripture with storytelling, fostering a conversational and interactive environment.
